Queer Little Space CIC

Queer Little Space CIC

Queer Little Space will be somewhere that will have a cafe space, so people can meet up, hold groups and activities, a shop section for selling books and merchandise for and by queer people and an information hub with services local and national that LGBTQIA+ people might find useful and information LGBTQIA+ people and their friends and families might need.

This could include working with organisations to give talks about topics such a healthy relationships or drugs, or training on equality and diversity. I would also like to start other groups if wanted, a group of older people, a book club, have activities such a games and crafting. This will hopefully bring the community together, help people find belonging in the county and encourage more understanding overall so we can reduce misinformation and even affect hate crime.

This would be a sober space, that caters to all people who are LGBTQIA+, inclusive of ethnicity, disability and age. Everyone would be welcome.

Long term hopefully we can offer support services, work with health care professionals. offer travel grants to attend the space and even organise another Pride event!

The rest – and the long term goal – would be to be able to pay for the hub via the retail side – cafe and shop stock. We would work on a commission basis with local creators, but also buy other goods to sell on with a profit. I would like to sell food further down the line, cakes, and sandwiches, once all the allergen training and food safety training is in place.

Again, this would be a sober space, no alcohol, there are enough pubs in Aberystwyth, and the trend from the survey I did was more towards something sober and relaxed that didn’t cater only to students.
