Margate Pride

Margate Pride envisions a world where all LGBTQIA+ people live safely, joyfully and openly as our whole selves in the communities we call home.

Margate Pride seeks to advance equity and justice for LGBTQIA+ people in all communities across the Kent and beyond by:

Harnessing our events, creative resources, fundraising and advocacy efforts to address root causes of discrimination impacting the LGBTQIA+ community;
Supporting community leaders and organisations that work to eliminate long-standing barriers to equal access, opportunities, and resources for LGBTQIA+ people; and
Expanding and deepening the level of engagement among all LGBTQIA+ people and allies, including people who are economically, racially, socially, geographically, or politically disenfranchised.

Our events offer diverse opportunities to gather in activism, protest, celebration, and advocacy. The variety of offerings across all of our events represents the diversity of ways our community acknowledges and celebrates Pride.

The Rally offers a platform for activists and organisers to make their voices heard and attendees to hear from important voices in our community.

Arts events such as Double Sided Sticky Tape put queer artists and subjects front and centre, while Tea Time Socials allows the older and younger LQBTQIA+ to gather as a community in a safe space. The legendary Margate Pride Parade has been a symbol of our presence in the community since 2016. BeYou run by porchlight has become a central hub for youth to gather in a safe space, unite with their friends, and make new ones.

The Arts Trail and Mx Margate have offered opportunities for small businesses and organisations to connect with our community in free and open street events. In contrast, Cockles and Muscles has been a symbol of our ability to dance and celebrate publicly.

Our events are essential, but we need your help in order to make them happen! Margate Pride CIC is a non-profit organisation funded entirely on our community’s contributions and grants. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and helps us get one step closer to fulfilling our mission and securing our commitment to the community.

We measure our success by the impact we make on the community. Our programming and fundraising are felt directly by members of our community in various ways. Our ability to create events that are free and open to the public allows members of our community to gather in Pride to learn and grow in ways they otherwise could not. Margate Pride has given numerous organisations the opportunity to create meaningful programming for marginalised members of our community and we encourage our community to participate in our events and play a role in Pride.
