The LGBT Archive (formerly the LGBT UK History Project, founded June 2011) is a collaborative venture to produce a comprehensive archive of LGBT people, places, events, and organisations in the UK from the earliest times to the present day. Our online encyclopaedia is organised along similar lines to Wikipedia and has over 4,000 articles, over 80 per cent of them illustrated. We cover every region, county, city, major town and local government district in the UK, plus the Isle of Man and Channel Isles. We aim to include every LGBT-related person of significance throughout the ages (From Julius Caesar to Tom Daley), and as many historic organisations and gay venues as we can discover. The articles have together been viewed over 18 million times. But this is a big undertaking: additional contributors are always welcome to improve our current articles and create new ones (there’s a long list of articles waiting to be created).
