Workshop & Discussion Session 1: 13:30 - 14:30
Join House of Rainbow and Living Free UK as they discuss their experiences of collaboration, and facilitate group discussions to inspire you to think about how your organisation can build collaborations and partnerships.
Join us for an introduction to the essentials of managing crisis communications in your organisation, including an opportunity to begin developing your own crisis communications plan.
The LGBTQ+ community is supported and represented by a whole range of different organisations of all sizes, some are staffed, some are volunteer led, some focus on specific parts of our community and some on different regions, cities or towns, some run pride events, some run year round support groups. All of us have different challenges but a common goal and working together is vital to keep our community united in order to tackle the discrimination, hate and intolerance we are experiencing.
How can grassroots organisations work with larger organisations to ensure their voices are heard? How can large organisations or Prides help develop and support those organisations working on the frontline? What experiences do we have of collaboration - what has worked really well and what lessons can we learn?
Pride in Gloucestershire is also presenting this workshop to see how it can reach out to ensure it's upcoming EuroPride bid represents the needs of the UK's LGBTQ+ community and to engage grassroots community groups in assisting with this and more importantly benefit from the opportunities hosting EuroPride may bring.
Presenter bio:
Richard Stevens (he/him)
Richard is the chairperson of Pride in Gloucestershire and been involved in running Pride events for 10 years with a further 10 years previous of running large community events. His "day job" is in the world of accountancy where he is the Financial Controller for a Gloucestershire based engineering business.
As the chair of Pride in Gloucestershire he leads, develops and supports a team of 8 trustees and 7 volunteer operational leads to deliver their year round programme of activities, including 6 prides, a Trans* Social Group and its bid for EuroPride 2027.
His personal belief is that Pride must be inclusive and accessible to all and must meet the needs of the community it serves. Furthermore collaboration between all LGBTQ+ groups and people is needed if we are going to challenge the attempts to divide our community, and roll back the progress so many people have fought so hard for, over the past 60 years.
