LGBT+ Futures: Equity Fund 2024 Launch

Thanks to further funding from the National Lottery Community Fund – the largest community funder in the UK, Consortium and its community partners are delighted to launch a second round of the LGBT+ Futures: Equity Fund. This fund will help continue to support community-led, intersectional LGBT+ groups to overcome some of the barriers they face in accessing funding and support.

This fund has been enabled thanks to National Lottery players and will focus on supporting user-led LGBT+ organisations based in England, who are working with targeted under-represented and under-resourced communities. The fund will distribute £500,000 through small grants and provide additional support through leadership and organisational development. The work being done by our communities is more essential than ever, making this a crucial time to fund these organisations and support their continued operation.

Following a previous successful funding round where £465,000 was distributed to 75 organisations, Consortium is excited to continue this work alongside community panel members and other community partners. Together they’ll be working on participatory grant-making practices and ensuring those with intersectional lived and professional experiences are driving the decision making and organisations doing vital work are supported best.

The Equity Fund was identified in its final report as having ‘a community-led, participatory decision-making structure, a supportive and accessible application process, and a dedicated development programme for grantees during the funding period. As a result, the Equity Fund has been successful in funding organisations for the first time and strengthened the capacity and influence of intersectional led by and for LGBT+ organisations across the sector.’ We are excited to fund deeper into intersectional and targeted LGBT+ communities who are most under-resourced.

Ramona (they/them), community panel member shared their thoughts:
“We’re thrilled to announce the latest round of the Equity Fund, now with increased funding! This means more organisations and groups can bring their brilliant ideas to life. This is an opportunity for you to make an impact and for us to serve our community and make it stronger!”
